We provide the below FAQs as an informal guide for your convenience. Please remember that your rental is governed by our Rental Policy (see link below) and our full terms found at our Terms of Service page, which constitute your agreement with Florimund's.

FAQs

What is included in my rental?

Every rental includes standard shipping, a prepaid USPS return label, professional cleaning, and any headpieces or accessories that are part of the costume’s complete look. Customers in New Jersey will be charged sales tax, as required by state law.

What date should I select as my rental start date?

Your rental start date should be the date you want the costume delivered to you, not the date of your performance.

Rental periods are fixed in length. We ship each costume to arrive by the selected start date so you have time for fitting, rehearsal, and any permitted alterations. Selecting your performance date as the start date may result in the costume arriving too late for proper preparation.

If you are unsure which date to select, please contact us at hello@florimunds.com and we are happy to help.

When will my costume rental arrive?

We ship every rental to arrive on or before your selected start date.

If your costume arrives early, you are welcome to use the additional rehearsal time.

When should I mail the costume back?

Your rental period ends on the final day of your selected rental duration. The costume must be mailed back to us via USPS on or before that date.

To avoid late fees and to ensure the costume is available for the next dancer, the return package must be mailed and post-marked by USPS by the end of your rental period. If the final day of your rental period falls on a Sunday, the costume may be post-marked on Monday.

Late returns may result in additional charges and can affect upcoming rentals.

If you have questions about your return timing, please contact us at hello@florimunds.com.

What is the $100 "Refundable Deposit?"

Each costume in our collection is a one-of-a-kind asset. The $100 deposit assures that we have funds to make major repairs if the costume is returned damaged beyond normal wear and tear, or if the costume is returned late. When costumes are returned on time and in good condition, we refund this deposit promptly when we receive it.

The $100 deposit will not be refunded if a booking is cancelled.

For exact details about your reservation deposit, see our Rental Policy, which governs your deposit. We encourage all customers to familiarize themselves with our Rental Policy so there is no confusion about your duties regarding handling of the costume assets.

Do I need to clean the costume before returning it?

No. Cleaning is included. Please focus on your performance, and we will take care of the rest. If there is an accidental stain or damage concern, email us at hello@florimunds.com so we can assist.

How do I pack the costume for return?

When you receive your costume, keep the tissue paper and plastic dress bag with the box for later. The costume must be completely dry of sweat before you pack it for return.

When it's time to return a tutu, gently fold the tutu skirt in half up towards the bodice, and then again gently fold the skirt in half (so it's loosely folded into quarters, toward the bodice). Then you can place it into the plastic bag, into the box, and carefully place the accessory box/accessories into the corners of the box. Tape up the box and you're done!

When packing a dress or tunic, simply fold the costume gently before placing in the plastic bag, pack into the box with the accessories, and tape closed.

Email us at hello@florimunds.com if you have any questions about how to pack the box.

How do I return the costume?

After reversing any alterations you made, place the costume and all accessories back in the original shipping box. Seal the box with clear packing tape when possible. Attach the prepaid return label directly over the original label.

The United States Postal Service (USPS) will be the carrier used to return your costume to Florimund's. To avoid late fees and to ensure the costume is available for the next dancer, the return package must be mailed and post-marked by USPS by the end of your rental period.

What happens after my costume is returned?

Once your costume is returned, it is inspected and professionally cleaned. If it is returned on time and in good condition, your $100 reservation deposit will be refunded promptly pursuant to our Rental Policies.

Can I cancel a rental?

Yes, with limitations. See our Rental Policy for all the details.

Can I reschedule my rental dates?

Because each costume is reserved for a specific dancer and date range, we are generally unable to offer self-service rescheduling.

If you need to adjust your rental dates, please contact us at hello@florimunds.com as soon as possible. We will review availability based on existing bookings and let you know whether an adjustment can be accommodated.

Rescheduling is not guaranteed and depends on other dancers’ bookings, preparation timelines, and shipping logistics.

How are your costumes sized?

Florimund's has developed a sizing method that makes it easy for dancers to find their proper size with minimal effort.

Please see the Sizing Guide here.

Some costumes have multiple sizes shown; this is due to the stretch nature of the fabric which can accommodate more dancers.

How do I remove wrinkles or relax the costume after unboxing?

Steaming is the safest method. A garment steamer is ideal, but you can also hang the costume in a closed room while running a hot shower, as long as it does not come into direct contact with water.

Ironing is not permitted under any circumstances. Many of the couture fabrics used in our costumes can melt or become damaged from even brief exposure to an iron.

What if the costume does not fit when it arrives?

Please contact us right away at hello@florimunds.com. We can advise you on which alterations may achieve the best fit, or discuss other options if needed.

Can I rehearse in the costume before my performance?

Yes, and we encourage it. Please treat the costume with care and store it in a clean, dry space between rehearsals and leading up to your performance.

What alterations can I make to the costume, and what support is available?

The following alterations are permitted when executed cleanly and without damaging the garment:

  • Adding a row of our provided bars to expand or contract the closure
  • Adjusting strap length on tutus or dresses, either with adjustable straps or by stitching
  • Taking in the bodice (advanced)
  • Adding a panel (advanced)

If you are unsure about any alteration, please contact us at hello@florimunds.com.

If there is an element to the costume that is designed to blend with your skin (i.e. straps or nude inset) but does not match your skin tone, please contact us at hello@florimunds.com so that we can ensure the costume has the correct shade. Please do not pancake or use makeup on any part of the costume.

Our team is here to guide you so you can make the adjustments you need while protecting the integrity of the costume and your rental agreement.

How far in advance should I book my costume?

Each Florimund’s costume is one of one. If you find a design that suits an upcoming performance, we encourage booking early to secure it for your dates.

Can I book a costume sooner than the dates shown as available?

Our system does not allow rentals to begin within 7 days of the current date. If you need a costume sooner, please email us at hello@florimunds.com. If the costume is available and not in cleaning, we may be able to expedite shipping, depending on your location.

Any expedited shipping charges beyond our standard included shipping would be your responsibility.

Can I purchase a costume instead of renting?

Our catalog is designed for rentals so that each piece can be enjoyed by many dancers throughout its life. If you are interested in a custom costume, we do offer the option to commission a new design from Janessa and her team.

Can I rent a costume for longer than 4 weeks?

Rentals longer than 4 weeks are not offered, as extended rental periods are generally not cost-effective for customers. If you need a costume for an extended timeframe, you are welcome to commission a custom piece from us with adequate lead time. A commissioned costume is made specifically for you and is yours to keep.

Do you ship internationally?

At this time, Florimund’s ships within the lower 48 United States. We hope to expand our shipping regions in the future.

If you are located in Alaska, Hawaii, or a U.S. territory, please contact us at hello@florimunds.com and we can review available options and any applicable shipping surcharges.
